Martha Sturdy creates oversized statements in resin, steel, brass and aluminum. Her designs are every changing and represent three decades of artistic evolution. Martha believes in the integrity of art and the essence of true form. “I take elemental shapes found in nature and combine them with global influences to create pieces that are dramatic yet minimal, sexy yet strong, aggressive yet soft.” Martha Sturdy pieces are hand crafted and finished in her studio in Vancouver, BC, Canada. RESIN
Each resin design is exclusive to itself; having its own colourations, air bubbles, irregularities and textures. The unique quality of each handmade piece makes it a true original piece of functional art. Resin furniture and accessories are created first by hand mixing one of over twenty different colour possibilities. It is then poured into a mould with a catalyst that works as an agent for the resin to harden. Once extracted from the mould, pieces are hand sanded and inspected for superior quality.

METALS
Each metal design is an original work: unique to each owner with its own colourations and character. Striking form and clean, simple lines create visual impact that is truly unforgettable and bold. Brass pieces are finished with an evolving patina so that each piece reflects the owner’s personality and lifestyle. Over time the surface appearance will slowly evolve and change. Steel designs are hand treated with either a charcoal or rusted finish. Both finishes are created by using an acid wash and then applying a light fixative.
